
Nestled at the foot of Mount Kastellos, Kritsa is one of the largest and most picturesque villages in Crete. Located just 9 km from Agios Nikolaos, this charming village sits at an altitude of 330–365 meters and is home to around 1,300 residents. Kritsa is renowned for its well-preserved traditional architecture, offering visitors a glimpse into the authentic Cretan way of life.
Our journey begins in the heart of Kritsa, where we set off on a short yet rewarding hike through its stunning gorge. As we walk, we’ll take in the rugged beauty of the landscape before making our way back into the village along the old historic road that once connected the ancient city of Lato to its port in the Agios Nikolaos area.
