Endless sandy beaches, olive groves, crystal clear waters, wild canyons, secluded bays and archeological sites. This is how Crete is described in tourist brochures, and it is so. But Crete is much more! A snowy expanse lies between the Lekfa Ori mountains in the west and the Ida mountains in the center, just waiting to be explored. It may seem a little odd at first, but ski touring on Crete is not as strange as it seems. Get to see Crete in a less touristy way.
Program:
The following program is indicative. Contact us if you would like to change the program itinerary or duration.
Day 1: Meet your guide and other members of the group in Heraklion or Chania International airport. From the airport we shall be transferred to Anogia village. Overnight at Anogia. Dinner at a local tavern.
Day 2: Transfer to the area of “Migeros” plateau and ascent to “Kochris” (1.696m) and “Kourouna” (1.856m) peaks. Overnight at Anogia. Dinner at a local tavern.
Day 3: Transfer to the area of “Migeros” plateau and ascent to “Agathias” (2.424m) and “Timios Stavros” (2.454), highest peak on Crete. Transfer to Anopoli Village at the south side of Lefka Ori mountain range. Overnight at Anopoli. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 4: From Anopoli we drive as high as possible on the mountain and ascent “Pachnes” (2.253m) the highest peak of Lefka Ori. Overnight at Anopoli. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 5: From Anopoli we drive as high as possible on the mountain and ascent “Kakovoli” (2.214m) peak. Transfer to Omalos plateau. Overnight at Omalos. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 6: Ascent to Psilafi peak (1.984m). Overnight at Omalos. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 7: You shall be transferred to Chania or Heraklion. End of services.
Important notice: In order to ensure the safety and well-being of the participants, the itinerary may change for a variety of reasons beyond our control (e.g., harsh weather, snow conditions, accommodation availability). The final choice of touring is made by the trip leader.
When to come:
Mid-January to mid-April is usually the best period to ski on Crete.
