Paligremos, the iconic, and impressive limestone wall on the east side of Plakias beach, is one of the best climbing crags on Crete! A wall that is entirely flat, vertical, and slightly overhanging, embellished with a few splitter cracks and sporadic tufas. The majority of the climbing is done on steep slabs with cracks, crimps, side pulls, and pockets. Its location is also excellent because the cliff is just on the edge of a fantastic beach, and close to the city.
When to come
Spring and fall are the best times. Even in the summer, as long as you keep in the shade, climbing is acceptable. From early in the morning till about 15.00, the cliff is shaded.
