Hiking Mt. Dikti

Limnakaros plateau and Spathi summit

Ascend Spathi – The Highest Peak of the Dikti Mountain Range

Get ready for an exhilarating hike to Spathi (2,148m), the highest summit of the Dikti Mountain Range. The adventure begins at Limnakaros Plateau (1,050m), where we can visit the historic Byzantine Church of the Holy Spirit, still adorned with remnants of its original murals.

The hike starts on a dirt road before transitioning onto the E4 trail, leading us to Seli. From there, we turn northeast and make our final ascent to the summit. Once at the top, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views—gaze over the Lasithi Plateau, the Cretan Sea, and the Katharo Plateau to the east.

To return to Limnakaros, we simply retrace our steps. The full hike takes approximately five to six hours. On the way back, we can also visit Dicteon Andro, the legendary cave where, according to Greek mythology, Zeus was born—a perfect way to end this unforgettable journey.
