Crete (\u039a\u03c1\u03ae\u03c4\u03b7)<\/strong> is the largest<\/strong> of the Greek islands<\/strong> and one of the biggest in the Mediterranean Sea<\/strong>. Covering an area of 8,336 km\u00b2<\/strong>, the island stretches 260 km in length<\/strong> and varies in width from 60 km to just 12 km<\/strong> at its narrowest point.
